DESCRIPTION
Spend three unforgettable days cycling in Provence, with a special focus on the legendary Mont Ventoux.
The region surrounding the mountain is dotted with charming villages, lavender fields, vineyards, and scenic natural parks and we will spend our additional days cycling them.
On one of the days—weather permitting—we’ll take on the iconic Cinglés challenge, conquering Ventoux from all three sides.
The Mountain: Mont Ventoux, known as the "Giant of Provence," is famous for its harsh conditions and its association with the Tour de France.
The Challenge: Cyclists must complete all three primary routes to the summit—from Bédoin, Malaucène, and Sault—in under 24 hours.
The "Cinglé" Status: Successfully completing the challenge earns a cyclist a certificate and official membership in the Cinglés du Mont Ventoux club, a badge of honor for their endurance.
The Experience: The ride involves significant climbing, totaling over 4,443 meters (14,500 feet), and features diverse scenery, from picturesque lavender fields to the desolate, wind-swept lunar landscape near the summit.
SUPPORT
This is a fully supported ride—with a guide and a support van complete with bike mechanic.
The support van is there for mechanical help, water and snacks to keep you going, and even a bit of encouragement when the legs need it most.
HOTEL
We’ll be based in Bedoin, starting with the ascent from there before tackling Malaucène and finally Sault.
CINGLES CLUB/CARD
To earn entry to the club, you must complete all three road ascents of Mont Ventoux (from Bédoin, Malaucène, and Sault) in a single day. Once you’ve done it, you send your completed brevet card (stamped at each ascent) back to the club, and they issue you the official Cinglés card and certificate.
You will need to apply for the brevet card before our trip, its in your name and we will talk you through the steps to get it completed.
ITINERARY
Once checked in the day is yours until approx. 1800, we will have an informal briefing and collect our Bikes and then your free until the following morning at 0845.
Your evening meal you can take at your leisure.
Breakfast is normally served from 06:30, and we will meet at 08:45 at the front of the hotel for the start of our first day’s ride. Everything will be explained in the briefing.
The first riding day is relatively straight forward and has limited climbing, lots to see at every turn, and of course we will stop as often as is needed throughout the day.
The hotel we aim to be there around 1500 so you have time to look around and relax before the next day.
We will find plenty of places for coffee on route, again we try and aim for 1500 to give us time for sightseeing.
Much of the day is just steady riding hunting out coffee stops and interesting places as we head towards our Hotel.
